The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment hosted a press conference on Thursday, 23rd April 2020, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade & Commerce's conference room, to provide the nation with a Situation Report on the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Remarks were delivered by Minister of Health Wellness and the Environment, Hon. Robert T. L. V. Browne.

It was reported that the symptoms of the COVID-19 cases recorded in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), were mild to moderate, and were managed in isolation. One hundred and one (101) persons were tested, with eighty-eight (88) returning negative results, and thirteen (13) positive results.  The figures reflected the status at the time of the press conference.  Four (4) persons had so far recovered, which meant that there were nine (9) active cases.  There have been no COVID-19 related deaths, with thirty-three (33) persons in quarantine.

The press conference was told that the isolation facility in Argyle is expected to be opened on Monday 27th April 2020.

Measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 were emphasised, as well as containment of the virus.  The acquisition of drugs, as part of the treatment process, was also mentioned.

Browne; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, etc. Mr. Cuthberth Knights; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Simone Keizer-Beache; and Dr. Jerrol Thompson, Infectious Diseases Specialist. 

Questions were taken from various media houses and responses made by the relevant authorities.
